Getting to the JGU Campus
Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz can be readily reached by road, rail, and air. It is served by many public bus and tram lines. There are several related stops because the university campus is very large. The public transport bus and tram services provided within the city itself offer connections to nearly all destinations within Mainz and Wiesbaden.
By public transport
The city of Mainz has a central station and a number of other rail stations. The easiest way to get to the Gutenberg Campus is to exit at Mainz central station and then take a bus or tram. We recommend using tram lines 51, 53, and 59, all of which stop directly at the main entrance to the campus.
The following lines serve the university from central station:
- 6 (towards Münchfeld/Gonsenheim)
- 51 (towards Lerchenberg)
- 53 (towards Lerchenberg)
- 54 (towards Klein-Winternheim)
- 55 (towards Finthen)
- 56 (towards Finthen/Wackernheim)
- 57 (towards Bretzenheim)
- 59 (towards Hochschule Mainz)
- 64 (towards Hartenberg)
- 65 (towards Hartenberg)
- 68 (towards Budenheim)
- 75 (towards Schwabenheim/Ingelheim)
- 90 (towards Finthen)
- 91 (towards Lerchenberg)
- 650 (towards Sprendlingen)
Getting to conference center Erbacher Hof
The second conference venue, Erbacher Hof (Grebenstrasse 24), can be reached from Mainz central station by foot in about 20 minutes.
Alternatively, take a regional train (S-Bahn, Regionalbahn) towards Hanau, Aschaffenburg or Mannheim from Mainz central station and disembark at the next stop, Mainz Römisches Theater. From there, the conference center is within 8 minutes walking distance.
